Science, Clinic and Live Dialogue: Open Doors Day at the Department of General Practice and Polyclinic Therapy of RMANPO

The Head of Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexey Sergeevich Ryazanov conducted an extended session of the Young Scientists School to introduce event participants to the scientific and practical directions and practice-oriented training at the department, sharing the experience of a general practitioner in interdisciplinary interaction of specialists.

Young specialists, students and graduates of medical universities got the opportunity for personal communication not only with the faculty of the department, but also with residents who had already completed their training at the department.

Resident M.E. Ogarkova and Associate Professor M.V. Makarovskaya presented a clinical case of tumor dermatomyositis in outpatient practice. The scientific report demonstrated the paraneoplastic nature of dermatomyositis as an example of a rheumatological syndrome associated with oncological pathology. This example emphasizes the need for cancer screening at the onset of dermatomyositis, especially in patients over 40 years of age, and demonstrates the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in addressing such issues.

Resident R.A. Asatryan and instructor N.A. Anisimov shared their experience of clinical observation of anti-GAD encephalitis, a disease that can masquerade as treatment-resistant epilepsy or psychosomatic disorders for years. The presented experience emphasizes that it is the general practitioner who acts as a key figure in the early recognition of anti-GAD encephalitis: forms clinical suspicion, initiates targeted immunological screening, coordinates interdisciplinary interaction, and ensures continuous patient monitoring at all stages of treatment.

Event participants were able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a lively, informal meeting, discuss issues of interest to them, and assess all the advantages of studying at the Department of General Practice and Polyclinic Therapy of RMANPO.
